Sprinting Progress: started off the month at 3 hours a day off the ventilator and ended the month at 5 hours a day.
Physical / OT Milestones: Still pushing my v-tech walker around. Taking a few steps on my own when doing a sit to stand from a chair and walking towards a nearby table/sofa. I like to walk around while holding onto someone’s finger. Started PT at Kids in Motion. There was an interesting car rollercoaster that I tried out but got scared in the end so I pushed the car around instead. I was also able to dunk a ball into a basketball hoop! Still working on climbing up steps on my own without falling backwards. Working on my sit to stand from the floor without grabbing onto anything. My fine motor grasp and control is improving. I like to put circle shape objects through the right slots as a part of my bath time routine.
Speech/Language: though I still haven’t figured out how to verbally say words, I got the hang of signing a few signs. More/again tends to get me what I want while all done usually stops something I’m over with, though it doesn’t happen all the time. All that pesky annoying trach care keeps going even though I sign all done! My first word was DaDa on 9/15, to mommy’s utter disappointment but she is happy that I said anything verbally.
Continuation of Gung Gung’s 70th birthday bash celebration. We had a beach day picnic at Manhattan Beach with yummy BLT + egg sammies. Though muggy, the weather was still warm enough for everyone to touch the water and play sand. I wasn’t much of a fan. I preferred to stay back under the safety of the sun shade tent and as far away from the water as possible 😱 We had a special beach wagon with heavy duty wheels to bus me + all of the party supplies back and forth. The uprights were getting a workout dragging everything.
Continuation of mommy’s mission to explore new parks. I like going down slides now, walking on the apparatus, and going up/down the stairs (with assistance). Mommy almost threw me into the air after coming down one of the slides wayyyyy too fast. McMaster park in Torrance was really nice quiet clean with different sized Firetrucks everywhere. The Los Arboles Rocketship Park in Torrance had lovely views since it was up on a hill borderline to PV.
Hiked the coast near Point Vicente Lighthouse again but this time with PoPo and Gung Gung. We also went to the 62nd Annual Portuguese Bend National Horse Show at Ernie Howlett Park in Rolling Hills Estates (all proceeds benefit Children’s Hospital Los Angeles). There were mini therapy horses that I was able to pet and huge show horses that galloped by.
We went to daddy’s coworker pool party in Redondo Beach. 🍔 and 🌭 grilled on the bbq. I didn’t dare touch the water.
Got another sweet haircut by my Yee ma. Right in time for the heat wave.
Had an unfortunate emergency overnight hospital stay after the new nurse accidentally pulled out the entire GJ tube from my tummy 😖. I got to hang out with my nurse girlfriends though and see my BAE, who sang lovely music to me right before I got discharged from the hospital. They even let me walk around outside the room with my IV pole since I was so restless and bored.
Walked around at the Torrance Farmer’s market. I was grumpy and restless and mad while stuck in my stroller until the nurse got me out of there! I like walking around better. We also went to Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee 🍩 that just opened up in Torrance. So fresh.
My ma-ma and yea-yea Grandparents came to visit me! We walked around the neighborhood together, played at the park, did arts and crafts, and celebrated Daddy’s birthday!
